A blend of 91% Malbec and 9% Merlot, Cuvée Dame Honneur confers its noble status to this exceptional variety. Cuvée Dame Honneur, a long-aging wine, can be kept for more than 20 years, getting better all the time.
A hearty nose, prettily woody, with concentrated red fruit aromas, vanilla and spicy notes.
Elegant, rich and complex, with harmoniously smooth tannins. This is a hearty wine, deep, woody, with notes of vanilla, red fruits and aniseed. The flavor is round and balanced with a long aftertaste; the wine can age for many years with good results.
Cuvée Dame Honneur takes its flavors from the oldest vines of the vineyard, planted on third terraces from the Lot River and on the limestone plateau. The very delicate berries are harvested and sorted manually. After vinification, the batch is matured for 24 months in new oak casks before being blended by the enologist Michel Rolland. It is then bottled at the Château.
Cold maceration at 9°C / 48.2°F for 4 days, then fermentation at 30°C / 86°F, followed by a long maceration (between 4 and 5 weeks) at 28°C / 82.4°F. Daily pumping over, pigeage, malolactic fermentation in new oak barriques.
